Blue Mars has been built to integrate with existing online applications. The Blue Mars client can send and receive data directly from the web. Using Flash interfaces and LUA scripts, most communication tools can be accessed or integrated directly with the Blue Mars client. As an example, many City Developers are using Twitter widgets for citywide announcements and global messaging.
Yes, our platform supports VOIP. We are now providing a free global VOIP solution through Vivox.
While the initial download for an individual City may be over 100mb, most of that content will only need to be downloaded once and can be distributed on physical media or off a local network. Going from place to place inside a City doesn’t require any further transmission of asset data. Once a user has downloaded an area, the Client only needs enough bandwidth to coordinate location, communication, and any streaming clothing or appearance data.
